How's the work life balance at Extron Electronics?
Fantastic!
It's not a stressful environment, but you are expected to at least put in a full work week (40 hours), which is a reasonable requirement.
No issues. Some work basic 40h per week, and some work 50h + per week. if you get your work done there are no issues at either extreme.
Does Extron Electronics have any remote positions?
Yes, but they’re very selective and only someone who performs well onsite will be considered for such an arrangement.
There are many "location flexible" positions available for sales and technical associates.
No remote positions are generally available. Even working from home is strongly discouraged.
What should I wear for an interview at Extron Electronics?
Depends on the job. Sales — wear a suit. Engineering / Product — wear business casual.
It's best to dress to impress. While a suit is not required, it certainly will go in your favor. Business casual is also acceptable.
How's the vacation policy at Extron Electronics?
10 days vacation.. 5 sick days. Go over this (even if you really were sick) and you will absolutely be fired (saw it multiple times). After 5 years, you get another week of vacation.
Depends on location. 1 week sick + 2 weeks vacation to start, other locations have 3 weeks 'pto'. increments by 1 week every 5 years.
What are your coworkers at Extron Electronics like?
Very nice people, and some are very sharp! I wish the culture wasn’t so stifling.. there’s a LOT of potential inside the company but most of the senior execs have been there their entire career... so they only know one way of doing things.
What do people at Extron Electronics think about the CEO? What do they do well and what can they improve?
sometimes he’s very reasonable... other times he’s a complete jerk. He’s fairly bitter about Crestron’s expansion from just control products and there’s a fair amount of focus on “sticking it to Crestron.”

Extremely conservative.
How does Extron Electronics make decisions around promotions?
It has everything to do with how influential you are within the organization. Can you manipulate others into doing what you want... if so, then you’ll move up over time. Also, can you keep mgmt secrets.. another essential part of being promoted.
How's the work pace at Extron Electronics?
Very very slow.
How much and how often do raises happen at Extron Electronics?
Once a year for most... but the percentages are very low (1-3%). That said, I did receive much larger raises when I presented a compelling argument for them.

Not great... but hey! I’m getting paid!

Not difficult at all.. work-life balance is very easy to achieve while working there.

Challenges are largely in how long you can tolerate the slow pace of progress.

team outings are few and far between, but they’re very tame and are more for mgmt to feel like they’re treating people well.

As long as I’m here between 8-5, and don’t take more than an hour for lunch (ideally 30min or less), I feel very secure.
