I like that they are friendly and knowledgeable
Local managers are great, very personal and friendly at most locations
My feelings are mixed, but the team only consist of two people.
A strong and card no leadership team makes my work worthwhile
Review from Sales Dept
They always make sure you give it 100%!
The leadership team has no idea how to successfully run multiple small businesses. College bookstores cannot be run like large chains but they refuse to see how their decisions are harming their low level employees and customer base.
The leadership team needs to spend more time in the stores so they can see what the people keeping this company running are dealing with on a daily basis.
Communication, training, expectations, staffing, real goals
Praise. Communication. Value their employees.
Empathy for all its employees
401k matching, Insurance benefits, company holidays
I was given a 12% pay cut when we were purchased by an investment firm. There is no best part about my compensation now.
Flexible schedule and no limits on sick days
Benefits package is strong. Premiums are relatively low
Excellent salary AND life/work balance
Review from Sales Dept
No benefits. Executive greed is rampant
Nothing, this place makes me miserable.
Better pay. Nicer work environment.
Undervalued because my position is an afterthought and a catch all. Way too much expected of you for far too little pay. What would make me feel better? About $10-15k more a year at the very least
I have been overworked and feel like I’m constantly spinning my wheels. The pay structure for store employers makes it difficult to want to sta
The staff I worked immediately around were kind and good people
Committment to each other and the campus culture.
Most of the students were great to work with. They were friendly and hard working.
I work with a friendly diverse group of people who I enjoy being around.
Fun. Great customer service. Friendly. Hard workers.
Everyonr is just trying to get things done.
need to be right personnel for the job; fellow co worker lacked any customer service experience
A new store manager helps
Coworkers are fine, we're just all very burned out, and we've only been in position for 5 months.
I am the only employee at a store that used to have five employees. This change when we were bought out by an investment firm, and they decided to illuminate every other position in this location except mine.
The coworkers and store level management, and a handful of higher ups who empathized and helped where they could. As for the job itself, helping customers and minding the store was pleasant on slower days. Living wage/reasonable work/benefits etc would have made it an enjoyable career.
Our General merchandiser lead is nice.
Nothing that I can think of
The students are so wonderful. I would take them over anything at the end of the day. They are who keeps me sane. Plus my immediate coworkers
Follett has a new CEO and president that are focused on a one-team philosophy. The culture is catching on and everyone is united in the goal to achieve together. Recognition is a focus and employees feel appreciated and welcomed.
Review from Sales Dept
Actually caring about employees. Not constantly telling employees how off the mark they are even though they're already working 12 - 14 hour days just to keep up
They need to stop hiring micromanagers who play favorites.
Hopefully change in currently happening with new PE group as new owners. But PE groups are driven solely by profit, so just wait & watch.
Complete reorganization of executive leadership or company should sell off what's left of it...
Get quality, competent leadership ASAP
The in person interview was nice.
It was not a great interview and market leader clearly had no idea how to do it. Leave it to in store management they know the job and what to say and were very helpful.
It was straightforward and simple
No interview experience because they just hired me permanent
The connection that I felt. The relaxed way it was done. That was the best part of the whole process.
Nothing at all would imporve it
It takes months to get hired on. I had to do 4 interviews
1st, invest in a quality HR department that actually hires HUMANS. Then, hire qualified HR HUMANS. An HR department with integrity and shows understanding & respect for State Labor Laws. Hated being a part of this questionable behavior! Labor laws need to be followed!!!
The interview took tens minutes over the phone. Desperate people
Put humans back into the Human Resource Department
Working with good people and helping others with their education
I am most happy when I can affect affordability for course materials and make the college dream a reality for all students.
Review from Sales Dept
Student customers and interactions with coworkers
Interactions with students, faculty, and staff make It all worthwhile
Review from Sales Dept
The environment their is just amazing
I do not think there can be any improvement at this point. All control has been stripped from the local campus store. Corporate is all about profit - not helping the students.
The people at the top need to treat the people below them like human beings.
Better buyers. Better merch. Lower prices
Need more staff at the store
Work load, giving us staff, hours allotted, high expectations with limited resources, checked out market leaders and regional leaders.
