How employees describe working at Franciscan Health
Clean hospital with friendly staff and excellent patient care. A small place, so you may get caught waiting as people with more serious concerns are seen first. That's OK and understandable. Once I got in to a room, I was swarmed with the staff quickly and efficiently. I felt I was in good hands.

What's the internship program like at Franciscan Health?
There isn't really a true internship program for most departments, though if you are related to someone higher up in leadership there have been internships created. You just have to have the right connections. It's not really something anyone can apply for.
Not too familiar with the Internship program, but I do know that OLOL students are given preference for internships and are usually hired afterwards.
What's going wrong and how can it be improved at Franciscan Health?
I would love to see more diversity and a more inclusive culture. I do not feel benefits and pay are competitive. I make significantly less than my position is worth, but staying for now for the stability and work-life balance. I wish the organization would be more transparent about things like the Catholic Ethical Directives and how much the organization is truly a Catholic organization with religious exemptions. I did not really understand this until halfway through my orientation... I am used to it now, but at first the noon-time prayers, policies on birth control and things took some time to understand.
Better analysis of where the company is failing and eliminating positions in those areas, not in the areas that are doing well!
How are layoffs handled in the Marketing department at Franciscan Health?
I have never seen anyone laid off - even if they arguably should have been.
How long does it take to hear back after applying to Franciscan Health?
Varies based on department. You should hear something within 1-3 weeks generally.
What is the dress code at Franciscan Health?
Corporate professional for any professional office. Case managers and some others are more business casual. Clinical staff and several other departments have scrub uniforms.
What are the differences between maternity and paternity leave at Franciscan Health?
I am not sure if Franciscan really offers a paternity leave. Maternity leave is available through short term disability leave (FMLA) and all accumulated PTO must be used first before any partial FMLA benefits can kick in. I believe the FMLA benefits are around 60% pay for up to 6 weeks if you have been employed for at least a year. If you have not been employed for at least a year I believe these are unpaid.
How often do employees get raises at Franciscan Health?
This varies - currently all manager and above positions are not receiving raises. Raises are often based on 2% of the median income for your position, so if you currently make above the median you will receive less than 2% and if you make below the median you could receive more than 2%.
What is Franciscan Health's internship program like?
We really do not have a solid internship program, but if you have relatives who are senior level management or above there can sometimes be opportunities created.
What kind of people does Franciscan Health like to hire?
We do hire people from all backgrounds and races, but we are a catholic organization that leans very conservative. We try to hire people who align with our values and mission to continue Christ's mission through Franciscan traditions.
How can I get hired at Franciscan Health as a recent grad?
Do you know anyone who is hiring? Are you related to someone in senior level management or above? Don't worry - those aren't the only ways. You can also apply online. This really depends on what the openings are, your qualifications and who is doing the hiring.
How are the career growth opportunities on the Marketing team at Franciscan Health?
Expect very slow movement with raises based on your previous position and not raises that match a new title. Many stay in the same position for several years. Raises are not given every year and when they are, they are not based on performance. I assume a lot of places are like this, but often promotions and hires are based on who you know or who you are related to... If you have close connections with senior level management that will go a lot further than experience and other qualifications. While you do not have to be conservative or Catholic to advance, it is rare to advance if you are not. The organization is Catholic with nuns in leadership and very traditionally conservative values at the higher leadership level. You need to align with these values to advance very high as these are the values of the organization and those making decisions at that level.
Why do you feel undervalued and what would make you feel better about your compensation at Franciscan Health?
I work for a health care organization and should have better, more comprehensive benefits for myself and my family.
