Executive Bio

Mr. Jon J. Lauckner has been the President of General Motors Ventures, LLC since July 1, 2010. Mr. Lauckner leads a team that makes equity investments in startup companies that are developing next-generation automotive technology. Mr. Lauckner has been the Chief Technology Officer and Vice President of Global R&D at General Motors Company since April 1, 2012. Mr. Lauckner was responsible for forming General Motors Ventures, LLC. He is a member of the Senior Leadership Team at General Motors Company and had a key role in developing the Chevrolet Volt extended-range electric vehicle. Previously, Mr. Lauckner served as a Vice President of Global Product Planning at General Motors North America since March 2010. He was a Vice President of Global Product Planning at General Motors Company since August 1, 2009. Mr. Lauckner served as Vice President of Global Program Management at General Motors Company. He served as Vice President of Global Program Management of Motors Liquidation Company from May 10, 2005 to July 2009. Mr. Lauckner was GM's global vehicle line Executive for midsize vehicles based in Russelsheim, Germany since 2004. In 1995, he became Director of planning at GM do Brasil, with responsibility for product planning and program management. In 1992, he moved overseas as Director of export operations and trade development for GM do Brasil in S??o Paulo. He served as General Director of planning for Latin America, Africa and the Middle East since 1992. Mr. Lauckner served as a Director of market and business analysis for GM's Asia Pacific and Latin America regions since 1990. He held various positions in powertrain and vehicle engineering until 1985, when he was named Product Line Manager for large and luxury cars for Buick. He joined GM in 1979 as an Engineer at Buick and held a number of positions in product engineering, powertrain engineering and product development, including international assignments in South America and Europe from 1992 to 2005. He serves as a Director of Sakti3, Inc. He served as a Director of Proterra Inc. until September 14, 2016 and has been its Board Advisor since September 14, 2016. He received a Master's of Science degree in Management from Stanford Business School in 1990 through the Sloan Fellowship program, attended the GM-Harvard Senior Executive Program in 2001 and received a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Michigan in 1979.
