Mr. Matthew Tsien, also known as Matt, has been an Executive Vice President of General Motors Company since January 2014. Mr. Tsien has been President of General Motors China, Inc. since January 01, 2014. Mr. Tsien served as Senior Vice President at General Motors Company since January 1, 2014. Mr. Tsien served as a Vice President of Planning and Program Management at General Motors China, Inc. and is responsible for Consolidated International Operations and Strategic Alliances for China. He has been Vice President of planning and program management for GM Consolidated International Operations and Strategic Alliances for China since January 2012. He has been with GM for 37 years. He has deep insight into GM's China operations as from 2009 to 2012 he led a joint venture there as executive vice president of SAIC-GM-Wuling and helped negotiate its joint venture with SAIC, including Shanghai GM and Pan Asia Technical Automotive Center. In 1976, he began working for Delco Electronics as a cooperative student. He has worked for GM in Germany, Australia and China in technical, program management and planning jobs. He has been a Director of GM Korea Company since April 11, 2012. In 2001, he was appointed Executive Director of vehicle systems for GM North America product development and previously worked as Executive Director of global technology engineering. Mr. Tsien received a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from the General Motors Institute (now KetteringUniversity) in 1981, a master's degree in Electrical Engineering from Stanford University in 1982 and a master's degree in Management from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 1993.
