What's the office layout like at IMVU?
Open office with conference rooms and a large kitchen that is separate form the office space.
How much diversity is there among employees at IMVU?
A lot of diversity.
How's the morale at IMVU?
High. There was a time when the morale was lower, the CEO left, and we had a round of people leaving due to layoffs and fallout from that, but now we are hiring and growing fast, so employee morale has returned back to the highest I've seen it.
What's one thing you wish you'd known before joining IMVU?
How fun it would be working at IMVU and the opportunities that would be presented.
What's the Engineering team like at IMVU?
A very diverse and fun loving group.
How's the leadership on the Engineering team at IMVU?
The leadership is great, they work hard to empower all of the developers and engineers to reach their full potential.
How do I do well in an interview at IMVU?
Just be yourself. There is no really gaming the system, and honestly, getting the answer right is not even the most important thing. We are looking for people that come in, confident in their abilities and are able to think critically.
How long do the interviews usually take at IMVU?
4-5 hours with multiple people and breaks as needed.
How would you describe your overall experience interviewing at IMVU?
It was great. The interview process is actually what made me want to work for IMVU, I had competing offers, the other company being higher in compensation and benefits, but felt more at home with IMVU.
What should I wear for an interview at IMVU?
IMVU is a very informal environment, wear what you are comfortable wearing.
How would you compare interviewing at IMVU to other places you've interviewed?
It is a painless process and made me lean towards IMVU with competing offers, the other offer actually being much higher in compensation.

Manager, team lead, product designer, HR rep, and someone from the product management team.

The circle questions, css questions and a few other javascript questions.
How flexible is your work schedule at IMVU?
Very. You set your own schedule.
What kind of interview questions do they ask when hiring someone in the Engineering department at IMVU?
Technical, cultural, leadership, and a bunch of other questions.
What does the ideal candidate in the Engineering department look like at IMVU?
Someone that is a team player and ready to hit the ground running. We are not looking for people that are of the lone wolf mentality, but rather someone that will work well with a team and is self aware enough to know when to ask for help.
What are the team outings like at IMVU?
Team outings are typically very well planned and thought out. The most recent team outing was a company wide outing that included multiple escape rooms, and culminated in the company renting a theater to have a private screening of Ready Player One with concessions provided, free to the employees. Other smaller outings include trips to wineries, and casual lunches or happy hours that the company pays for.
