Mr. Matthew J. Lustig, also known as Matt, serves as Head of North American Investment Banking at Lazard Ltd. Mr. Lustig serves as the Chief Executive Officer and Managing Principal at Lazard Real Estate Partners LLC. He serves as Vice Chairman of U.S. Investment Banking and Head of Real Estate at Lazard Freres. Mr. Lustig is responsible for Lazard's real estate investment banking activities, as well as LAI's real estate fund activities. He has been a Managing Principal at Lazard Freres Real Estate Investors L.L.C. since January 2002 and Managing Director of Lazard Freres & Co. LLC since 1994, responsible for its real estate investment, banking and strategic advisory services. Mr. Lustig served as Head of Investment Banking at Lazard Ltd. From April 1999 to September 1999, Mr. Lustig served as the Acting Chief Executive Officer of LFREI. He has worked for more than 25 years in the real estate industry, during which time he gained extensive experience providing strategic and financial advice and execution to clients and investing in real estate companies and assets. Before joining Lazard Freres in 1989, Mr. Lustig served as a First Vice President in the real estate group at Drexel Burnham Lambert and before that, was a Lending Officer at Chase Manhattan Bank specializing in credit, construction and real estate finance. He serves as the Chairman of the Board of ARVAL, General Partner of American Retirement Villas Properties III LP. Mr. Lustig serves as the Chairman of the Board of Directors of ARV Assisted Living Inc and has been its Director since 2003. He served as the Chairman of Atria Senior Living, Inc. He has been an Independent Director of Ventas, Inc. since May 13, 2011, ARVAL since 2003 and Boston Properties Inc. since January 20, 2011. Mr. Lustig served as a Director of Istar Financial Inc. from February 2002 until his resignation on May 25, 2004. He serves on the Boards of the Pension Real Estate Association, the Larson Leadership Initiative of the Urban Land Institute and The Wharton School Zell/Lurie Real Estate Center. Mr. Lustig is a Member of the Real Estate Roundtable. He also sits on the Real Estate Advisory Board at Columbia University School of Business and the Board of Visitors of the School of Foreign Service at Georgetown University. Mr. Lustig received a BSFS degree from the School of Foreign Service at Georgetown University.
