We call ourselves agile, but don't have a strict formula for all teams. Each team can decide what methodology they use, whether that be a strict Scrum process, Kanban, or something else.

Who did you meet with during your interview? And how long did it take to hear back from Liferay?
I met with the founder of the company and the leaders of the Quality Assurance department. I had a very short interview with the founder (30 minutes) and worked with the QA Leadership for about 4 hours. I heard back within a few days.

What's the pay like for Engineering roles at Liferay?
Liferay has historically paid less than market value for their Engineers. There have been efforts to correct this in the last couple of years and they are striving to align all employees with market rates over the next couple of years.
What's the office layout like at Liferay?
There are predominately two different layouts in the Liferay office in Diamond Bar, CA. On the Engineering side, it's a completely open layout with 3x6 tables put together in pods on the entire open floor. Meeting rooms are on the outside walls of the building. On the support side, it's a pod layout with 4 to 8 convertible (sit/stand) desks in each pod separated by walls or partitions. Meeting rooms are scattered throughout the floor.

Always willing to help as needed, but we hire people who are self-starters and able to learn and figure things out on their own. We work together as a team, help each other out as needed, but leave people to figure out their own solutions where we can.

We need more women on our team. I don't feel like this is a factor of our team in particular, though, but of the industry as a whole. The applications we receive for our open requisitions are overwhelmingly male.
