  • Easy, I knew my future manager. This is very typical in the mortgage business.

  • It totally depends on the hiring manager. For my second (first in person) interview, the manager and i went into a conference room, he put a slide deck i had never seen before up on the screen and essentially said "give this presentation" - and he played the part of someone that objected to various points of the presentation, and also asked me to explain what were the benefits of the presentation. He just wanted to see how I could handle the objections, speak persuasively, and command the subject matter. I got the job. A week or two into the job i gave that presentation (for real) to an audience that asked many similar questions to what he did. It was a great experience.

  • Honestly I dont know them well. We work, socializing is frowned upon.

  • Most co-workers are excellent, diligent, and have integrity. Lieutenants who work for major decision makers create chaos trying to execute impossible and uninformed directives. You must look good to succeed. Succeeding is helpful but optional.

  • GREAT PEOPLE + management is fantastic

    depends on the office. At LA HQ it;s more formal business casual but other offices allow jeans. It's a very "work in person" environment - work from home options are available but the execs expect it to be a rare occurrence.

  • Horrible morale, tainted culture, many unhappy people.

  • Resignation that good things can only be accomplished by working through frustrating, difficult and unnecessary processes.

  • An employee was recently told by her manager that she needs to pick between her kids and working overtime......that pretty much answers it.

  • Moderate and slowed down by inefficient processes. Many administrative functions are poorly designed and are forced onto the workforce creating a serious drag on productivity.

  • The CEO has good intention but is out of touch. Promises to reform the organization and reduce wasteful processes have failed to occur. Significant layoffs continue to occur in an effort to reduce costs, but the high costs are more related to bad management decisions.

  • There is too much process driven by Tokyo management and fear of further regulatory penalties. The IT group was badly restructured and has driven expenses higher without fixing fundamental issues. The retail group has a pathological management culture focused on self preservation despite years of poor performance. Loyalty and fealty is rewarded over clarity and accomplishments and is achieved through nepotism, ageist re-organisations, and only hiring loyalists. Yet, there are heroes who are still trying to overcome these difficult issues.
