He achieved the rank of captain during his four years of active duty and was one of the youngest officers ever to be granted space-systems level contracting authority. He was a four year letterman and team captain, NCAA Division 1 men's soccer at United States Air Force Academy. He received a Bachelor of Science degree in Economics from the United States Air Force Academy. He received a Master of Business Administration degree from UCLA.
