Mr. David Wright serves as Chief Electricity Engineer and Chair of Electricity Transmission Owner at National Grid plc. He oversees the investment and maintenance programme, delivering the highest level of network reliability in Europe. Mr. Wright joined National Grid in 1992 where he started as an Electrical Engineer. He has occupied management positions on both gas and electricity networks in the UK, managed National Grid's electricity transmission network in the USA, led the gas transmission field force as well as teams in both the gas and electricity control centres. Prior to joining National Grid, Mr. Wright worked for VSEL (now BAE) the only submarine builder in the UK, designing electrical generation and distribution systems for warships. Mr. Wright serves as Director of Electricity Transmission Owner at National Grid Electricity Transmission plc. Mr. Wright served as Director of Electricity Transmission Asset Management at National Grid Gas plc. Mr. Wright has been a Director at National Grid Electricity Transmission plc since October 01, 2014. Mr. Wright is a Fellow of the IET, Vice-Chair of CIGR?? UK, duel accredited Chartered Engineer with both IET and IGEM and a member of the Institute of Asset Management.
