Executive Bio

Mr. Matthew K. Fawcett, also known as Matt has been the Senior Vice President, General Counsel and Secretary of NetApp, Inc. since September 2010. Mr. Fawcett is responsible for all legal affairs worldwide, including corporate governance and securities law compliance, intellectual property matters, contracts and mergers and acquisitions. Prior to joining NetApp, from 1999 to August 2010, Mr. Fawcett served in various legal positions at JDS Uniphase Corporation. He served as Senior Vice President, Secretary and General Counsel of JDS Uniphase Corporation since October 2008. He served as Legal Officer of JDS Uniphase Corporation. Mr. Fawcett was responsible for leading JDSU's global legal team, oversaw JDS Uniphase Corporation's legal strategies and the management of internal and external legal resources. He served as JDS Uniphase Corp.'s Board Secretary. He served as Corporate Counsel at Fujitsu America. He served as Associate General Counsel and Director of Intellectual Property where he led the development and management of JDSU's intellectual property portfolio and programs. Prior to joining JDSU, he provided a broad array of corporate, commercial and intellectual property advice to Fujitsu and in private practice at Morrison & Foerster LLP. He holds a Bachelor's degree in Rhetoric from the University of California at Berkeley and a J.D. from the University of California at Los Angeles.
