Q&A With palmer Employees

palmer employees answer questions about what life is like behind the scenes at their company, including queries about culture, leadership, professional development, and compensation.

How employees describe working at palmer

Negative. Over the years the company focus has been on temp employees, reducing benefits, and just getting work done as opposed to getting work done correctly because it takes more time. Outdated equipment makes the job harder. We never know if we have to work overtime.

The company was very reasonable over a decade ago, but the current management team has created separation between office force and production floor causing an imbalance in the companies needs. Supervisors are only concerned with their production numbers, not for the good of the company as a whole.

Asked to the Product Department at palmer

  • There are no layoffs for the "regulars", however temporary employees are either laid off for reduction in work at the time or a problem with one of the workers. This is terrible because we never had enough time to fully train someone or give them a chance to get hired.

Asked to all employees at palmer

  • There is no good reason to work for Palmer any more. This was a good place to work many years ago and the people that still work there are either new people that need a job or the older employees that have been here for decades and are just waiting to retire.

Asked to all employees at palmer

  • It has been getting worse over the last decade. Reason for that is the increasing reliance on temporary employees, company culture of separating production workers from office force, outdated production equipment, less communication from supervision, benefits being reduced each year, and too much overtime.
