Make the middle management and VPs focus on employee development. I do not have a development plan and do not know whether my personal development goals meet the need of the company's goals.

Look outside of Picis to learn where the current market trends are and learn how we can adapt and improve ourselves.

Fewer meetings that could be emails, fewer people on the emails that do get sent.
Better leadership would be a good start. Having a title of VP means nothing if you do not have the skillset and or the desire to lead.
What needs to change to make the company culture better?
Employees must understand that speaking up for the benefit of the company is ok.

Immediate change in leadership starting with the CEO.
Stressful work environment. Leadership is rude and could literally care less about their employees. Fear reigns supreme and no one dares speak their mind for fear of losing their jobs. I would invite my worse enemy to work here.

What's going wrong and how can it be improved?
way too much micromanagement through 4 layers of management
Direction seems to be a bit wavered at times but can be corrected with firm decision making and drive to achieve the end result.

Senior leadership (VP's) inherited their new positions because they were in the position of Director when Harris purchased Picis from Optum. I do not think this part of the company can be improved unless the entire leadership team is replaced.
Put executives in place that actually have experience in the healthcare industry. It's an all boys club who are clueless about how to navigate and work in the healthcare fields.
