If you could make changes, how would you improve the culture at Quest Software?
Nothing. They are on the right track
Remove the hatched people from executive management followed by getting some really knowledgeable software people in at the director level.
How innovative is Quest Software?

Zero. They've been trying to innovate for years and when you look at the numbers, all of the "future" projects combined add up to less than 5% of revenue. The old legacy (which has been put on autopilot) accounts for all of the profit. They haven't had a single successful offering as a company...every successful product has been acquired (and then destroyed)

How can I get hired at Quest Software as a recent grad?
Be willing to take substandard pay and be micromanaged.
Is it possible to switch teams at Quest Software? If so, what is the process?
Not really. Once you're in a place, you're there. They have so few people that a single person leaving can reduce team size by 25% (more in some cases).

Pretty good. Based on time but the week of Christmas is PTO.

Fair. Not horrible but if you have family insurance options, it can get pricey.
What makes you the most proud about working at Quest Software?
The past. When we were actually a software company, it was a great place. The last couple of acquisitions (Dell and Francisco Partners) make me embarrassed but being close to retirement, I'm coasting. The current version of Quest has nothing to be proud of - just another software meat market.

None as a group...everyone just wants to get out of dodge.
What is the best perk or benefit that Quest Software offers?
If you know how to suck up, you really don't have to do work. Just blame the process when things go bad so they can add more process and you can do less work. It's like riding a bike downhill.

Standard VSP...meh.

Like every other company....meh.
How hard is it to get promoted at Quest Software?
You can't get promoted due to pay caps.
What do you wish you knew before starting at Quest Software?
That they were in the process of being taken over by a venture capitalist firm and that the CEO is simply a cost slasher.
How long after an interview at Quest Software does it take to hear back?
6 weeks is the norm but very few interviews are taking place and when they do, people decline when they hear about the pay.
What is the dress code at Quest Software?
Pajamas are frowned upon but still allowed. If you can be seen in public wearing it, you can wear it in the office.
How does Quest Software make decisions around promotions?
You can't promote any longer. They have put salary caps in place and rules that state that you must make XXX% of the new position to be promoted. Since those ranges are now out of range of the caps, promotion is simply not possible (at least in the US).
How do you feel about Quest Software's future?
It's on its last legs. They have a few more years of milking the old legacy products but with nothing in the future pipeline (that works), the future is pretty bleak.
How does Quest Software measure success and growth in the IT department?
Agree with whatever upper management says and nodding your head up and down.
How's the feedback process at Quest Software?
If you provide positive feedback, you're safe. Any negative feedback is seen as a threat and layoffs are the solution
