I enjoy working here in the Tokyo office. It is one of the most culturally diverse environments I have ever seen. Though the bureaucracy is frustrating (because it's inefficient and not in line with the CEO's philosophy), the overall good will of the employees makes for a positive work environment.

Good will. Half are hard working. There are usually 1 or 2 people with real talent.
What would you improve about your company's interview process?
Standardize the interview process Make it more transparent (to both interviewers and non-management members who are involved in the process) Give more tools to interviewers for verifying skills
Why do you feel undervalued and what would make you feel better about your compensation?
Japan as a whole is behind the rest of the market when it comes to compensation, and Rakuten has been making some efforts to take the lead in closing this gap, but they could do better.
