Rio Tinto Environment Employee Reviews

What is most positive about the culture and environment at your company?

Everyone is nice and respectful.

that they are actually trying somewhat to change the bad things found in the everyday respect report

I enjoy a welcoming and inclusive culture where I feel my contributions matter.

Loyalty and commitment to employees

Safety is what matters cause paperwork..

Natural cohesion, teamwork and respect

Getvto work from home sometimes

The helpfulness of the crew, approachable leaders and everyone has a joke.

equal opportunities for all people

My immediate team is a good micro-community within the business; we often have lunches together and many of us share in social activities outside of work.

Review from Engineering Dept

What needs to change to make the company culture better?

The hiring process needs to change

machinery break downs is a big problem

Keep residental workforce out of FIFO matters.

Complete overhaul, training correctly instead of pushing people through to fast making for an accident waiting to happen.

There is no sense of team across crews. Everyone is for themselves. There's nothing in place to make it friendly.

massive cull of all senior and middle management

Get rid of generalist mentality and engage engineers and experts to run business

New management or more experienced management

Review from Operations Dept

Replace the entire management team with true mining professionals that can run a mining company. Somehow RT has placed incompetent fools in the highest roles, from CEO down to managing directors with little or no mining experience. Unbelievable

Review from Engineering Dept

Our leaders need to spend more time focussing on team direction, motivation and wellbeing. Expectations to be laid out and enforced, discussions of encouragement should be had with employees when attitudes and behaviours are not in line with expectations from management. Some weak, lazy leadership.

Review from Engineering Dept

Better Leadership ! not better Bosses !

Review from Operations Dept

Rio re-structures every couple years. Each time they reduce head count and outsource jobs.
