Q&A With Roche Employees

Asked to all employees at Roche

  • Top Employee Response

Generally, employees at Roche are salt of the earth, Midwest people. At times though, this can be a bit frustrating, as you don't know whether or not you're being shot straight on issues (a phenomenon called being "Roche Nice"). Ultimately, co-workers are collaborative, and willing to do the right thing, though sometimes it takes a lot of working through multiple levels to get things done. The vast majority of folks are sincerely driven by our mission to help impact the lives of patients afflicted with cancer, and I think this shows in our daily efforts and overall approach to our work and solutions. All in all, I'm very proud to call myself a member of the Roche Family.

  • There's a lot of mobbing- and nothing happens if the person who mobs others is great friends with a senior executive. You're completely left alone. There's also a vast amount of parochialism. Strange atmosphere as you never know whom you can trust or not.

  • Committed, hardworking, smart and talented. They often feel like their skills are underutilized and their creativity is unwanted.

  • It can be long and drawn out, or quick and painless. It really depends on the hiring manager and their ability to navigate the HR systems. I was initially hired within two weeks of my phone interview. However, I also went up for a job in another division and the process drew out over six months.

What is your management style? How do you build your teams?
