Executive Bio
Mr. Ilya Asnis serves as Senior Vice President of OS at Roku, Inc. Mr. Asnis joined Roku in 2015 and oversees the Roku OS including the product, software engineering and user experience teams to ensure the best TV operating system for TV. He served as Vice President of Engineering at Sling Media, Inc. He originally joined Sling Media in 2006 as the Director of Embedded Software. With over 15 years in engineering management and leadership roles, he has expertise in the design, implementation and optimization of video compression algorithms, streaming protocols and video delivery systems. He also holds multiple patents in the area of compression and streaming. Prior to joining Sling Media, Mr. Asnis was Director of Engineering for XVD Corporation and Director of Software Engineering at Digital Stream USA (formerly RightBits and Alaris), where he led the development of innovative hardware and software products based on proprietary compression technology. He was also the supervisor of the Information Processing Laboratory at the State University of Aerospace Instrumentation in St Petersburg, Russia, where he was responsible for developing video compression, error-correcting codes and public-key cryptography. Mr. Asnis was a Ph.D. candidate and he received his M.S. in Computer Science.
