Executive Bio

Mr. Steve Shannon has been General Manager of Content and Services of Roku, Inc., since October 30, 2012. Mr. Shannon heads Roku's content and services group which is responsible for establishing new content relationships, acquiring entertainment and growing services for the Roku platform. Mr. Shannon serves as Executive Vice President of RealD Home. Mr. Shannon is responsible for delivering on RealD's mission to enable 3D content is the living room. Mr. Shannon serves as an Advisor of Umami Co. He was an Executive Vice President and General Manager for Product Development at Rovi Guides, Inc. since January 23, 2006. He served as Executive Vice President of Product Management at Rovi Corporation. Mr. Shannon Founded Akimbo Systems, Inc. in 1995 and served as its Executive Vice President for Sales and Marketing until January 2006. He was a Co-Founder of Replay TV, which introduced the world's first digital video recorder; and at Macromedia, Inc., he conceived and developed Dreamweaver, a highly-successful professional web authoring tool. He has an extensive background in software development and has held a variety of positions at such companies as Paramount Pictures, Coopers & Lybrand, MGM/UA and Capitol Records. He is a Silicon Valley veteran who in the late 1990s was the creative force behind some of the area's most well known consumer technology brands. He served as Vice President of Marketing at SONICblue, where he was responsible for marketing Rio MP3 players and ReplayTV product lines. He joined SONICblue through the acquisition of ReplayTV. At ReplayTV he helped launch the world's first digital video recorder, driving marketing strategies. He served as an Executive Vice President, Product Management of Macrovision Solutions Corp. Before ReplayTV, he served as Director for Internet authoring at Macromedia, where he launched Dreamweaver; Macromedia's popular Web-authoring tool and still its most profitable product line. He joined Macromedia when it purchased iband, company he co-founded and the original developer of Dreamweaver. Prior to iband, he worked for Coopers & Lybrand and Paramount Pictures. He served as a Director of Akimbo Systems, Inc. until January 2006. Mr. Shannon holds Bachelor's degree from UCLA and an MBA from UC Berkeley.
