Screwfix is a great place to be able to belong, if you get the right team it can feel like a family. Like with any company though it does take a bit sometimes to find that right team. But, in all stores I have worked in so, I have felt part of the team and included in my work environment.
What is the best part about your compensation package?
The loyalty reward programme they do is a great incentive for anyone who is looking at staying with the retail/trade sector. I feel they reward their longest standing members of staff fairly.
What do you like best about the leadership team?
I like the fact that it doesn't feel like a pressure when the area manager comes down. My first thought when he comes down is "better get the kettle on then" which I really enjoy about my leadership team.
What did you like most about the interview process?
Again when I was interviewed, there were parts that needed structured questions but a lot of it was just a relaxed conversation with the manager of the store to see what it is you can bring to the team.
What are some of the best things about your team?
Love the feeling of team, everyone gets on and gets things done. It doesn't feel unbalanced at all. When the work is done, we still make sure our customers are served which is important but also have a laugh and joke whilst doing so.
What is most positive about the culture and environment at your company?
We have some staff of different cultures and background at Screwfix which I feel works really well with our customers as there is always someone they can relate to when they come in. I love working with people of different cultures as I love learning about them and their culture.
What makes you most happy at work?
Being able to help our customers find what it is they are looking for, not just in an everyday thing but when someone is genuinely thankful for your help. I think in particular the older generation, they come in seeking help and advice and they feel so happy when they get the help they need.
