Sila Nanotechnologies Compensation Employee Reviews

What is the best part about your compensation package?

Salary and equity. I don't really use a lot of the benefits.

The equity has grown significantly over time

Review from Operations Dept

The best part of my package is the equity options.

Review from Engineering Dept

Equity is accessible to everyone at the company (not just technical people or a specific managerial level).

best part of compensation is insurance

Review from Business Development Dept

Company provides decent equity packages. Cash compensation is not as good

Review from Engineering Dept

Equity rewards for good performance and cultural contributions

Review from Engineering Dept

affordable medical insurance and benefits

Review from Operations Dept

Health insurance benefit, and stock

Equity offerings exceeded my expectations

the review, the raise and promotion

Salary is fair and equity portion of package allows employees to to be highly vested in Sila's success.

Review from Operations Dept

Being very generous stock options

Equity, health savings account as well as 401k match

Review from Engineering Dept

Fair wages, good healthcare coverage.

I am paid hourly n contracted.

thanks thanks thanks thanks thanks

equity compensation is the best part

Review from Business Development Dept

Sila's contribution to my HSA.

Equity, low health insurance premiums

Why do you feel undervalued and what would make you feel better about your compensation?

Having some form of liquidity for the stocks would make a substantial difference in my life

Not comparable pay within same level of experience contributions. I would feel happier with a $15 to $20 K increase in pay.

Review from HR Dept

I'm not sure that people's broad scope of work is always taken into consideration when comp adjustments occur. Perhaps my work needs to be more visible for leadership. My team is also just paid less compared to other teams based on the market which doesn't feel good for the work being done.

Review from HR Dept

More compensation would make me feel better about my compensation. Bills are going up with inflation while my pay isn't. Taking on more responsibilities and developing more skills and knowledge to do my job better and helping create better systems to streamline information and getting a 'good job'..

When you get a title change, you do not get a pay bump. Then next time you are up for a review you fall into a range for how much your salary can increase. You are asked to do much more and have more responsibility in your "new" role, yet your compensation stays the same. Doesn't make sense

In almost any other part of the country, Sila's compensation would be extremely competitive. However, due to high cost of living in the Bay Area, there still exists a gap between Sila salaries and salaries at technology companies in the area. Sila hopefully continues to work on closing this gap.

Review from Engineering Dept

most of my peers i know make significantly more than me with similar experience levels.

Review from IT Dept

Comparing to other firms and similar positions the compensation can be better

Our compensation is not competitive for the rapidly growing sector requiring skilled talent that we are in. We set 90th percentile performance and scope expectations with 50th percentile base.

Buyback option and increased PTO

stock option or RSU related compensation helps for manage the living costs

More equal pay for effectively performing job done here at Sila vs. pay based on prior experience that may or may not be relevant to current position.

Review from Operations Dept

The general comp levels in my field has gone up significantly, and Sila is lagging behind. Comp needs to increase further to stay competitive, and we need more liquidity events.

Review from Engineering Dept

Sila's approach to pay is a fair one (targeting a consistent pay point relative to market rates for all roles), but the role titles that are used to determine pay aren't always reflective of the market nuances (lack of individuals with battery expertise) that drive pay upward at other companies.

The process to adjust salaries/roles between teams is not very clear sometimes.

Review from Engineering Dept

Sila is lacking in terms of benefits and total compensation when you compare to other companies of similar size. Those other companies being ones that are working in the EV and EV adjacent space.

Review from Engineering Dept

Fairer system for promotions and leveling. More vacation/PTO time.

Review from Engineering Dept

More specialized work is coming with Gen2

Compensation in relation to other Bay Area companies appears low. Sila is a hardware company with higher operating costs and targets compensation within a higher percentage of similar industries, but hard work still feels undervalued when compared to high growth companies like Google, Apple, etc.

Review from Engineering Dept

Cash compensation is lower than previous employer and cost of living raises have been minimal.
