Dana P. Claburn — Senior Vice President and Senior Production Officer of Southern Power at Southern Company

Ms. Dana P. Claburn serves as Senior Vice President and Senior Production Officer of Southern Power Company, a subsidiary of The Southern Company. Ms. Claburn serves as Senior Vice President of The Southern Company. Ms. Claburn oversees the operations of more than 10,500 megawatts of generating capacity across the country. She served as Director of Human Resources for Southern Company Operations. Ms. Claburn oversaw the operations of subsidiary Southern Power's more than 8,600 megawatts of electric power generation with facilities in Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Nevada, New Mexico, North Carolina and Texas and with an additional 30 megawatts under construction in Nevada. She joined Southern Company in 1987 as a student engineer in Oneonta, Ala. She spent two and a half years at NASA in Huntsville, Ala., before rejoining Southern Company as an Engineer in 1991. She has worked in engineering and construction services, system planning, plant management, fuel services and human resources. She has worked in an engineering capacity on the Hatch nuclear project and in system planning. She also served as Project Manager of Generation Development, as coal logistics supervisor in fuel services and as assistant to the Executive Vice President of Southern Power. In 2005, Ms. Claburn was named combined-cycle site manager at Southern Power's Plant Stanton in Orlando, Florida. She later also assumed responsibility for plants Oleander and DeSoto. In 2008, she became Manager of Market Analysis and Structuring for Southern Power, overseeing the business case analysis for new generation projects and acquisitions. In 2010, she became General Manager of Design in Southern Company's engineering and construction services organization. She serves as a member of the board of directors of Easter Seals of Birmingham. She holds a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from the University of Alabama and a master's in business administration from Samford University.
