Doug French — Executive VP & CFO at TELUS Corporation

Mr. Doug French is Executive Vice-President and Chief Financial Officer of TELUS Corporation (???TELUS???). Doug has 30 years of financial management experience and is a highly skilled and trusted advisor to the TELUS leadership team. With 20 years in the industry, he has the most national carrier experience of all Canadian telecommunications CFOs. Since joining TELUS in 1996, Doug has held progressively senior roles, including Controller for TELUS largest business divisions, Consumer Solutions, Business Solutions and Technology Strategy, as well as leading Corporate Accounting, Financial Reporting and Bid Governance. He served most recently as TELUS??? Senior Vice-president and Corporate Controller. Doug has held numerous key financial management and governance roles associated with the transformational events that have shaped TELUS. These include the company's expansion from a regional to a national telecommunications carrier; capital market activities, including the issuance of billions of dollars in debt and equity; spectrum purchases; merger and acquisition activities; successful cost-efficiency initiatives; deployment of the company's advanced wireless networks, including 4G LTE and HSPA, and the company's ongoing generational investments in fibre. Doug is renowned as an expert in Canadian, US and IFRS disclosure requirements and often represents the Canadian industry in international discussions on accounting standards. Doug has recently been appointed to the International Accounting Standards Global Preparers Advisory Committee. Under his leadership, TELUS has garnered multiple awards and external recognition for the quality of external reporting from the Chartered Professional Accountants of Canada (for the past 20 years) as well as Investor Relations Magazine. Doug has consistently demonstrated an unwavering commitment to helping the TELUS team pursue multiple growth tenets while continuously realizing enhanced operational effectiveness and efficiencies. He leads a dynamic team of more than 600 talented individuals whose skills include financial reporting and analysis, finance operations, treasury, investor relations, risk management, revenue assurance, taxation, pension investment management and corporate development. He is a member of TELUS Toronto Community Board and is the past President and Treasurer of his local soccer club. Prior to joining TELUS, Doug began his career at Ernst and Young where he worked for eight years including as senior manager in their auditing and accounting practice. There he supported numerous clients IPO efforts including Clearnet. He holds a Bachelor of Arts (Honours), Commerce and Economics from the University of Toronto. He is also a Chartered Professional Accountant, a member of the Canadian and Ontario Institutes, and is based in Toronto.
