How employees describe working at The Fresh Market

Listen to the people when they explain issues

we're not allowed overtime, you have to cut time at the end of the week to avoid getting it. Doctors notes are not accepted as an excused absence, even if you have Covid or explosive diarrhea you'll still be written up for it. Policies are written extremely vaguely.

I am not sure if its possible to correct or improve bad apples.

Friendly coworkers are the best part of the day.

Asked to all employees at The Fresh Market

  • In the corporate office, there's a level of apathy that's tangible as soon as you walk in the door. The attitude of "it's someone else's problem" is, in my opinion, the reason the company is failing. The corporate office is resistant to change and new ideas. The same issues are, year over year, the same issues because no one cares enough to change or try to make a difference. The idea that "this is the way it has always been done" is king. Communication is poor, managerial support is poor, and people are, at the end of the day, extremely lazy. A weak corporate office will always result in a weak store front.
