What did you like most about the interview process?Very organized and easy process
What makes you most happy at work? The people I get to work with.
What is most positive about the culture and environment at your company? The culture is relaxed yet professional. I feel comfortable being myself and I feel supported by those around me.
What does the leadership team need to get better at?Communication and follow through. The problem is they have never done the job that they are in charge of. Our employee development is trash. Training is non existent and is ofyen bypassed due to being busy.
Why do you feel undervalued and what would make you feel better about your compensation?Having a bonus structure/ compensation for extras
What needs to change to make the company culture better?Retrain or replace the graveyard foreman . They dont train their new employees instead they have another employee teach you for all of one shift . Then exspect you to understad it all and if you dont theyll wait until your 90 days is up and fire you . Then on to the next rotating door employee .
At The Wine Group, we are passionate about our people, our future, and our wine. We are America’s second-largest wine producer by volume with over 1,200 employees globally across 12 locations in California, New York and Australia. We are proud to be responsible for many of America’s most beloved wine brands, including Cupcake, Franzia, Chloe, Concannon, Benziger, Imagery, AVA Grace, 7 Deadly, and more. We are dedicated to our culture built on values like entrepreneurialism, innovation, social responsibility, and stewardship.
The Wine Group was founded in 1981 and its current CEO is Cate Hardy. Since its inception 45 years ago, The Wine Group has grown to 1250 employees.
Create long-term value in a culture built on stewardship, entrepreneurialism, teamwork, focus and integrity.
Build strong brands that deliver unbeatable value.
Our sustainability practices vary per location, but include:
CLEAN ENERGY
We demonstrate our passion for clean energy by investing in alternative energy and energy efficient lighting. Our solar fields have the capacity to generate an estimated 14 million kilowatt hours of electricity a year.
WATER CONSERVATION
With water a precious resource, we monitor our water usage throughout our facilities, utilizing, where possible, drip irrigation, solar-powered sensors, and steam cleaning practices.
CARBON EFFICIENT PACKAGING
We continually look for ways to reduce our carbon footprint. When it comes to packaging, we often opt for lightweight glass and boxes, which produce less waste and is more carbon efficient than using traditional glass bottles.
PEST MANAGEMENT
Animals play an important part in our vineyards. In most of our vineyards, we use owl boxes and hawk perches to encourage a self-regulating ecosystem of natural predators for vineyard prey and pests.
RECYCLING
We strive to reduce unnecessary waste to our local landfills by recycling much of our glass, plastic, and paper from many of our facilities, including wine manufacturing by-products.
BENEFICIAL GARDENS & INSECTARY
We provide plantings that attract beneficial bees and butterflies to promote pollination and attract hummingbirds and beneficial insects to control unwanted pests on our Sonoma estates.
ECO-FRIENDLY SHIPPING
We ship our wine overseas in bulk via a flexible bag-filled shipping container and then bottle locally. This avoids the transport weight of over 30,000 bottles per bag, reducing our environmental impact associated with shipping.
CERTIFIED SUSTAINABLE/BIODYNAMIC
All vineyards owned and operated by TWG are certified sustainable or biodynamic. We utilize some of the most eco-responsible methods available, treating our land with care for future generations.
At TWG we are proud to make a positive environmental impact and preserve our land for generations to come. We demonstrate our environmental stewardship through our commitment to clean energy, our certification of all TWG vineyards (covering thousands of acres) as sustainable or biodynamic, and requiring our third-party grape producers to do the same. This is not only good for the land, it’s good for the future and for the wines we make.
We are honored to give back to the communities where we live and work and to support several causes that make a difference to others. This includes showing our gratitude for those who have, or are currently serving our country, and supporting those in need.
