  • It may vary a bit on office and for what role, but dress business casually. Don't show up in shorts and flip flops, but if you show up in a suit it will also probably be just out of place.

  • 15 days

  • 15 days (3 weeks) to start, plus another 5 days at 3 years, and 5 more (25 total) at 7 years. That's more than most employees use, and the office is generally a ghost town the week between Christmas and New Year's due to people taking their extra days off - since they don't roll over. Also worth noting: there is a generous Summer Fridays policy, and 11 paid company holidays.

  • In the US: 15 days to start with. After 3 years it goes to 20 days.

Culture at Trip is stressful. "Speed Wins" is the motto. The CEO admits he would rather ask for more than someone can handle and have them come up 10% short than expect less from them. Nice sentiment if you are pushing a sporting team but constantly asking for more than someone's capacity causes stress, bad decisions and leaves no time to think things through with focus and thoughtfulness. Managing the art of escalation is how you get things done. Even the smallest decisions need approval. If you are a powerhouse builder, you'll do well here. If you value strategic, smart thoughtful decision making, TripAdvisor should not be your next employer.

  • Fast and open. It perculates from the CEO and most of the leadership is accessible. We are becoming a more data driven company and our mantra is Speed wins and if you cannot measure, don't build!

  • I appreciate the diversity among the individual contributors. That said, virtually the entire executive management team is the same race, age group, etc., and most are male. Plus, the way hiring is structured, it's hard to imagine that there's a lot of consideration given toward diversity in hiring practices (beyond EOE standards).

TripAdvisor has many offices across the world. Each office has slightly different vibe and culture. There are definitely a lot more perks at the headquarter in Needham and everyday you walk in to the office, you feel like you belong to something much bigger than yourself and yet you have many opportunities to contribute to improving the experiences that TripAdvisor's core customers have with TripAdvisor. In the satelite offices in the US and abroad, some offices are larger than others and each adjust slightly to its local culture. People in the Barcelona office, for example, would operate very differently than the people in the Singapore office.
