The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), also known as the Global Goals, were adopted by all United Nations Member States in 2015 as a universal call to action to achieve a better and more sustainable future for all by 2030.
UNICEF is working with governments, partners and other UN agencies to support countries around the world to ensure that the Goals deliver results for every child. Now and for generations to come.
Two goals - achieve universal primary education and promote gender equality and empower woman - are critical to ensuring environmental sustainability. Schools with safe water and separate latrines improve girls attendance and the quality of life for communities.
