How many women are in your team? is it diverse enough?
It is very diverse and in my opinion, it's the linchpin of the service. I believe like most other large workplaces, there's always progress to be made. With the understanding that some sectors are more gender preferrent. For example, aircraft maintenance is more heavy on the male side and conversely the medical fields have a much higher percentage. With that said, there's no career field that women don't have every opportunity to be successful. Plus, there's a very robust equal opportunity structure that's independent of local leadership interests at every location. Also keep in mind that women in combat positions specifically has made tremendous progress in the 5 past years but that is a whole different subject. So to answer your question, yes, it's very diverse but like most sectors there is gender and cultural interests that can sway statistics left and right of center but one must look beyond the surface to rationally understand the story beyond the demographics.
One. Yes.
I work directly with about 5 women regularly at my level. Two of my three bosses are women. I think there is a lot of diversity, especially given the demographics of the Air Force.
