Marianne Short — Chief Legal Officer and Executive Vice President at UnitedHealth Group

Ms. Marianne D. Short has been the Chief Legal Officer and Executive Vice President of UnitedHealth Group Incorporated since January 1, 2013. Ms. Short served as Managing Partner at Dorsey & Whitney LLP from January 2007 to December 31, 2012. Ms. Short has more than 30 years of courtroom experience as a trial lawyer and an appellate judge. She has served as trial and appellate counsel for a number of major companies in their most important litigation, including antitrust, securities, healthcare, products liability and class action lawsuits. Ms. Short joined Dorsey in 1977 after serving as a Special Assistant Attorney General for the State of Minnesota following graduation from Boston College Law School. From 1988 to 2000, she served as a Minnesota state appellate judge, authoring more than 900 opinions in virtually every area of civil and criminal law. She returned to Dorsey after leaving the bench. She serves as a Trustee at Boston College. She served as a Trustee American Public Media Group from September 16, 2016 to November 2, 2016. She was named a Person to Watch in 2008 by Twin Cities Business Magazine and was selected for Class of 2008 - ABA DirectWomen Board Institute. Ms. Short received her J. D. from Boston College Law School in 1976 and B.A. from Newton College of the Sacred Heart in 1973.
