Dr. Richard J. Migliori, also known as Dick, M.D., served as the Chief Clinical Strategist of OptumInsight, Inc. (also known as Ingenix, Inc.) since December 2000. Dr. Miglior led the design and implementation of unique knowledge based products for Ingenix and the industry. Dr. Miglior has been Chief Medical Officer and Executive Vice President of Medical Affairs at UnitedHealth Group Incorporated since 2013. Dr. Migliori serves as the Chief Healthcare Officer of UnitedHealth Group Alliances, overseeing the Health Care Transformation on behalf of AARP and also responsible for efforts to link clinical excellence with outcomes to drive health care quality and efficiency. Dr. Migliori serves as the Executive Vice President of Business Initiatives and Clinical Affairs for UnitedHealth Group. Dr. Migliori has more than 20 years of experience in the health care sector and has been a national leader in health care policy. Dr. Migliori served as Chief Medical Officer of OptumHealth, Inc. In this role, Dr. Migliori was responsible for ensuring clinical excellence, practical and clinical outcomes and robust business results at OptumHealth. Dr. Migliori joined UnitedHealth Group in 1996 as President and Chief Executive Officer of UnitedHealthcare of New England Inc. Before 1996, he served as Chief Executive Officer of Park Nicollet Medical Center and Chief Operating Officer of HealthSystem Minnesota. He served as Executive Vice President of Park Nicollet Health Services. Dr. Migliori was responsible for the ongoing development, design and adaptation of market leading clinical innovations aimed at ensuring clinical excellence, improving clinical and economic outcomes and delivering robust business performance on behalf of UnitedHealth Group's largest public and private sector clients. Dr. Migliori served as Vice President of United Health Care Corporation since March 1998. Dr. Migliori served as Chief Executive Officer of United Health Care of New England from September 1996 to February 1998. Dr. Migliori served as Senior Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of Health Systems Minnesota from August 1994 to September 1996 and as Staff Surgeon at Park Nicollet Medical Center from April 1989 to September 1996. Dr. Migliori has been a Director of Everest Medical Corporation since 1995. He serves as a Director of Children's Health Care Inc. Dr. Migliori also serves as designee of the Institute of Medicine and the National Academy of Engineers for the commission to develop national recommendations for the improvement of the American health care delivery system through a report published by the National Academy of Sciences. Dr. Migliori serves on the Harvard University/Kennedy School of Government Health Care Delivery Policy Committee and is a Member of the American Society of Transplant Surgeons and the Advisory Committee on Transplantation advising the Secretary of Health and Human Services on public policy for human organ transplantation. He is a Clinical Faculty Member of the Department of Surgery at the University of Minnesota, led the development of national breast cancer detection guidelines and has published more than 35 articles on topics ranging from continuous quality improvement methods in a clinical setting to surgical oncology and solid organ transplantation. He has served as clinical instructor and associate director of the Surgical Residency Training Program in the Department of Surgery at the University of Minnesota. He has completed advanced training at the University of Minnesota in solid organ transplantation and a National Health Research Fellowship in immunology, transplantation and oncology at the National Cancer Institute in Bethesda, Maryland. He is Certified by the American Board of Surgery, Dr. Migliori is a Surgeon with training in transplantation and has completed a National Health Research Fellowship in immunology, transplantation and oncology funded by the National Institutes of Health. He graduated with honors in Biomedical Sciences and with a Doctor of Medicine degree from Brown University.
