Think corn maze, but made out of cubicles. Loud and distracting. Hopefully you'll have a mediocre job that doesn't require a lot of concentration.
Very open and organized
What are your coworkers at USA Truck like?
Coworkers of the last decade were great. New group coming in was not so much.

Expensive benefits. Be prepared to lose most of your paycheck for minimal coverage.

Rare. Lot more common to be fired or leave the company.
How do you feel about going to work at USA Truck everyday?
I dreaded every day of the last few months. Wasn't as bad when manager, director, and/or VP was out of pocket.

IT team was great when I was first hired on. That team has been replaced over the last couple years and no longer exists at USA Truck.
How does USA Truck measure success and growth in the IT department?
Successes are not really discussed. It's mostly the failures that are focused on.
How are layoffs handled in the IT department at USA Truck?
Ask anyone in the Van Buren, AR area. If they are in IT, they either know someone who was laid off by USAT, or they were laid off themself. Basically, they'll fire you over a phone call or text, and refuse to answer questions. If you have the opportunity, record the call from your supervisor (if you are working for USAT IT, you are probably already recording all your calls with supervisors and leadership because of trust issues). They will try to lie about the reason of your layoff to keep from or slow down unenployment payments.
What do you wish you knew before starting at USA Truck?
Wish I knew the board was going to bring in the current CEO and he would bring in a team of people out of the northwest that was the worst group of people I've ever worked under. Wasted a few years of my professional career there.
How long does it take to hear back after applying to USA Truck?
May not hear back. They have been known to ghost candidates.
How often do employees get raises at USA Truck?
They find another job through Linkedin, Indeed, or Monster and get a massive raise when they move out of the company.
How are the career growth opportunities on the IT team at USA Truck?
Few years ago there were growth opportunities in the form of training and promotions. Now, you have to be friends with the buddy club out of Washington state for growth opportunites, or even the opportunity to keep your current job. I've left this company and found another that offers plenty of growth options, whether it be training professional training or shadowing others. If you are on the USA Truck IT team, you'll find the best growth opportunites on Linkedin, Monster, and Indeed.
