Ms. Carolyn M. Johnson has been the Chief Executive Officer of Annuities and Individual Life at Voya Financial, Inc since September , 2016 and served as its Chief Executive Officer of Insurance Solutions from September 16, 2016 to November 4, 2016. Ms. Johnson served as President of Annuities at Voya Financial, Inc. since April 2014 until September 16, 2016 and served as its President of Annuities & Tax-Exempt Markets until September 16, 2016. Ms. Johnson is responsible for all aspects of the Annuities segment, including product, distribution, financial management and operational performance. She is also part of the Retirement Solutions executive leadership team, collaborating on overall business strategy and on key corporate-wide initiatives. With more than 25 years in financial services, she has a deep knowledge of the industry and significant leadership experience managing high performing businesses. She served as the Chief Operating Officer and Executive Vice President of Protective Life Insurance Company and Protective Life Corporation from November 2006 and June 1, 2007 to July 11, 2013 respectively. Ms. Johnson served as Chief Operations & Technology Officer of Protective Life Corp. from November 2006 to June 2007. She served as Chief Operations and Technology Officer and Senior Vice President of Protective Life Insurance Co. from November 2006 to June 2007. She served as Senior Vice President of Protective Life Corp. from November 2006 to June 1, 2007. She served as Chief Operating Officer, Life and Annuity and Senior Vice President of Protective Life Insurance from August 2004 to November 2006. From 2003 to 2004, she served as Senior Vice President at Bankers Life and Casualty. She served as Senior Vice President and Chief Operating Officer at AEGON's Western Reserve Life from 2000 to 2003 and as its President from 1994 to 2000. Ms. Johnson has been in the insurance industry for more than 25 years. She served as Vice Chair and Director of LIMRA Inc. (formerly LIMRA International, Inc.). Ms. Johnson served as Director of Protective Life Insurance Company. since June 2007. She was chair of the ACLI Life Insurance Committee and a member of LIMRA's Strategic Marketing Issues Committee. She serves as a Director of the Alabama Board of the Red Cross and the Birmingham Civil Rights Institute. Ms. Johnson earned her B.S. in business administration from California State University, Los Angeles and has also studied executive-level finance at Harvard Business School. In addition to holding FINRA Series 6 and 63 licenses, she has served on a number of professional association committees and charitable boards.
