Patricia Walsh — EVP & Chief Legal Officer at Voya Financial

Ms. Patricia J. Walsh, also known as Trish, has been the Chief Legal Officer of Voya Financial, Inc. since September 14, 2015. Ms. Walsh oversees all aspects of Voya's Law, Compliance and External Affairs Department. She serves as an Advisor to senior management and the board of directors on legal, compliance, securities and corporate governance matters. Ms. Walsh serves as an Executive Vice President at Voya Financial, Inc. from September 14, 2015. She joined Voya from Cigna, Inc. where, she served as Deputy General Counsel and Global Chief Compliance Officer since 2012. In this role, she oversaw a number of key risk mitigation strategies and represented Cigna, Inc. with state and federal regulators. She joined Cigna in 2011 as Chief Counsel for its U.S. Healthcare business. She served as Senior Vice President and Chief of Staff to the Chief Executive Officer at Massachusetts Mutual Life Insurance Company and was responsible for ensuring that key strategic initiatives received the resources and direction required for successful completion. She also served as Senior Vice President and Deputy General Counsel for Massachusetts Mutual Life Insurance Company. She held several roles at Massachusetts Mutual Life Insurance Company from 2002 to 2011. Prior to MassMutual, she served as an Associate at Cleary, Gottlieb, Steen & Hamilton and was also employed as a Staff Attorney at the SEC. She began her career with Clerkships at the U.S. District Court for the District of Connecticut and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit. She has accumulated significant experience working as In-House Counsel for a private practice and also on the regulatory side with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission over the course of her 20-year legal career. Ms. Walsh holds a J.D. from Yale Law School, a master's degree in public affairs from Princeton University and a bachelor's degree in economics from Mount Holyoke College.
