Mr. Odilon Almeida has been the President of Western Union Global Money Transfer at The Western Union Company since February 2017 and served as its President of Americas & European Union Region since January 2014. With a 14-year tenure, Mr. Almeida is spearheading the digital transformation and growth of The Western Union Company. He leads 98 countries across North America, Latin America, the Caribbean and Europe. With a 30-year career in global financial, telecom and fast moving consumer goods sectors, Mr. Almeida has a leadership style anchored in growth acceleration and business turnarounds involving digital transformation, organic growth and successful M&A. His board experience, along with business leadership at Western Union, Millicom, BankBoston (now Bank of America), The Coca-Cola Company and Colgate-Palmolive has given him deep knowledge of corporate governance, general management, technology platforms, regulatory and compliance as well as consumer insights of developed and emerging nations. He has decades of experience from the financial services and Fintech sectors. He served as Senior Regional Vice President at The Western Union Company since December 2007 until December 2013 and Managing Director of Latin America & Caribbean since December 2010 until December 2012 and Executive Vice President since January 2014 until February 2017. Mr. Almeida joined The Western Union Company in 2002 and has held roles of increasing responsibility, starting as Regional Vice President of Southern Cone for Americas. In 2008, he was appointed as Senior Vice President for the South America Region at The Western Union. Prior to joining Western Union, he held positions at FleetBoston Financial, The Coca-Cola Company and Colgate-Palmolive, working in Brazil, Canada, Mexico and the United States. He has been a Non Executive Director of Millicom International Cellular S.A. since May 2015. Since 2006, he has served as the President of the ABMTransf-Associa??????o Brasileira das Empresas Prestadoras de Servi???os de Micro-Transfer???ncia de Dinheiro (Brazilian Association of Money Remittance Companies). In March 2008, he was elected to the Western Union Foundation Board of Directors. Mr. Almeida has a Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from Maua Engineering School in S???o Paulo, Brazil and in Business Administration from the University of S???o Paulo and also holds an MBA with specialisation in Marketing from the Getulio Vargas Foundation, S???o Paulo. He advanced his education at IMD Lausanne, The Wharton School and Harvard Business School.
