Awful! Management is put in place by how well they say yes instead of how well they know what they are doing. They are promoted by being incapable of saying what needs to be said and rising to the occasion. They have absolutely no respect for their people. Management has no railroad experience.

Outsource HR - the internal HR department is awful. They don't care about anyone or anything. The pay is constantly messed up and no one cares. It takes weeks to get anything done or corrected.

Knowing the jobs they supervise, respecting their people, showing care and compassion, learning from others, and not having the typical I'm a leader so I know the best way to do everything attitude. Good leaders surround themselves with people that are smarter than they are, and they listen.

A large majority come to do their job to the best of their abilities, or at least to the best of how they were trained. Most don't have railroad backgrounds like I do. Management does not train people properly, and that is because management doesn't know the job either. Federal rule violations daily

We are the lowest paid class I railroad in the country and the 2nd worst to work for as rated in 2021 by Best Places to Work. UP, NS, and CSX (all class I railroads) make up 3 of the 5 worst companies to work for. Management says disgruntled employees caused that. Alternatively maybe its really true
