It is not at all what I told it would be. There were far more issues within my facility when I started and my mentor was only at my facility two days. I was left to figure it out or sent emails with links. The NHE was mission focused, but our daily work and messages from the executive team aren't.
What makes you most happy at work?
Seeing something I put in place benefit the dogs or my team.
What are some of the best things about your team?
How much they care about the dogs and how they come at problems with solutions rather than complaints.
Why do you feel undervalued and what would make you feel better about your compensation?
As a whole, my team included, we are paid too little for the level of responsibility that caring for this many dogs requires.
What is most positive about the culture and environment at your company?
In this facility, i have worked to change the culture to one of positive thinking, supporting the team and focusing on the dogs' care.
What does the leadership team need to get better at?
Our mission vision and values are talked about, but we don't see them in action. The town hall and executive level meetings are always focused on visit and revenue numbers and not quality of relationships with clients, care of pets and team morale.
