Local facilities need better management with employees to have better working conditions. There are fewer employees to cover shifts and resident's needs. Yet administrtors and /or DON expect limited workers to finish without going overtime. Sometimes 21 patients need tending in an 8 hr shift.
What is most positive about the culture and environment at your company?
The charge nurse is very understanding about workers stressful jobs and shortage of employees.
What are some of the best things about your team?
There is good communication with all CNAs. They are helpful and understanding of residents and coworkers.
Why do you feel undervalued and what would make you feel better about your compensation?
Hire more workers to be able to get vacation dates approved and in case personal emergencies arise.
What's going wrong and how can it be improved?
Hire more help and listen to needs of residents and employees with a follow through positive solutions.
What does the leadership team need to get better at?
They need to occupy more employees in each working shift. Give part-time workers opportunities to cover regular workers shifts when they are in their vacation. Vacations are not being approved due to shortage of workers.
What would you improve about your company's interview process?
The DON did not have any say of the hiring part of the interview. Only the administrator had the interview and say so of hiring. In other facilities I have worked before the DON had the final decision due to the knowlege of what the work should entail with residents and their conditions.
