My experience has been wholly positive. How much you can advance and how fast depend entirely on you. If you want to work a lot, you can, or if you want to do it as a side gig, that's fine too. The more exams you pass and the more teams you're on, the more likely you'll have more pay and more work.

Interacting with my coworkers to make sure everything that needs to get done is done.
What is most positive about the culture and environment at your company?
Using Yammer to bring all the crowdsource transcriptionists together and being able to directly interact with operations and training leadership on all the projects and special teams that exist.
What are some of the best things about your team?
Everyone helps each other out, no matter how large or small the question or situation you may have. We are family, though we may live in different countries and have different backgrounds.
What do you like best about the leadership team?
The operations team is full of people who genuinely want you to succeed and they try to help you to do so. You can always ask questions and they will provide guidance for whatever problem you may have.
What makes you most happy at work?
What I like most besides the people and the community is the variety of projects, file subjects, and different transcription styles that are available. If you stick it out and move past the general transcription pool, you'll never be bored with the work.
What is the best part about your compensation package?
Working as an independent contractor for transcription, you don't really get a benefits package. You get paid per hour of audio you transcribe, not how long it takes you to transcribe the audio. Some of the more specialized teams have weekly contests where you can win cash bonuses.
What did you like most about the interview process?
To sign up as a transcriptionist you don't really have an interview. You are given the style guide, which you have to study, and then take a test to confirm that you've understood the guide and that you can apply it to live work. If you pass the test, you're in.
