Workers rarely interact with managers so it's hard to tell but I think they are trying their best. They should just be more open minded and allow transcribers from other locations to also join teams set aside for Australians and Americans only and not be discriminatory as is currently prevailing.

Very political. Admins have workers they love and hate. Who loves and hates that Admin will reflect on how they treat you. They will even take hours or days of your work away and give it to someone else without compensating you because you didn't 'technically' complete it per their whim. Good luck!

Some of the TM identified staff (supervisors/leaders) on the forums come across as having a bad attitude and 'holier than thou' way of communicating. It feels like they hate their job and have low tolerance for new staff, and instead of being understanding or helpful they answer questions rudely.

As I am a contract employee, I don't have a compensation package. I knew this when joining Transcribe Me and am perfectly fine with it.

There is always a fair chance to be promoted to a higher pay grade. All the processes are transparent and accessible to all.

They pay fairly and always on time. I have never missed a payment. They also have good incentive packages and raffles (which I won once) to encourage you to work harder.

Why do you feel undervalued and what would make you feel better about your compensation?

As a QA you are called on to correct other people's work. At times that involves multiple mishears, moving of words, adding words and punctuation. At times that creates additional hours of work that is not paid for. But no compensation given unless a chunk is bad enough to reject.

I don't feel undervalued. It's an online remote-working company that may not be best suited for other types of benefits offered by other physical companies, I think. But maybe they could have a shareable profile that can be used as a referral when seeking other gigs or employment.

Compared to other online transcriber services, TranscribeMe is one of the lowest paid, with some of the worst audio quality. Because of this, work takes much longer to complete but the earnings are still pitifully low.

The rate can be doubled. An audio hour usually takes more than 10 hours to transcribe but one is paid $25 or $30 for an audio hour on some teams and even less something like $15 for others which is just too low. At least the rate per hour should be reviewed upwards to make it worthwhile maybe $100

The actual employees/management does very little and dumps the work on the underpaid admins or yells at workers to do it with thinly veiled threats. So if they just actually did their job, that would be great.

Be more inclusive in leadership roles and in special teams and have a representative leadership that is very diverse so that things are equitable

Better management and less politics/favoritism. The people that say they are there to help, aren't, and will target you if you go to them. And if they quit taking people's hard work and letting others complete it for compensation while the person that did it gets nothing. Communication.

Getting a job is not supposed to be easy. But neither does it have to be impossible. More can be done to at least maybe show percentage marks when one takes tests for transparency reasons. Things have to be done in the light to make a process not only just be also seem to be just to everyone.

The preliminary exams required to qualify to work at Transcribe Me are quite challenging. However, hopeful applicants are allowed to retake an exam as many times as necessary to pass. Encouragement to do one's own work is firmly advised and cautioned. Honestly, I love a good challenge.

They don't even know what to ask you. It always depends on what they need at the time, as though they're just asking questions to give them ideas of their own. They already know who they're picking. It's just a joke of a game they have to play while they try to benefit from it.

There's no winning. There are people that either like or hate someone and if that someone likes or hates you sets the tone of your environment. It's hostile and full of harassment. I think the only people happy, are those that manage to not get yelled at or criticized that particular day.

Leadership need to change their attitudes, and the QA needs to be more streamlined. The staff who assess our submitted work don't all stick to the same style guidelines that we are taught. Something can be classed as an error by one person and not another.
