Methodology

  • Comparably’s Best Companies for Compensation list is derived from ratings provided by employees that have anonymously rated their companies on combetweenSeptember 12, 2018 and September 12, 2019. There were no fees or costs associated with participating, nor was nomination required. The final data set was compiled from 10 million ratings across 50,000 U.S. companies.
  • To qualify, Large companies (more than 500 employees) must have a minimum of 75 employee participants and Small/Mid-Size companies (fewer than 500 employees) must have a minimum of 25 employee participants. Additional weight was given to companies with more participation from their employee base.
  • Winners were determined based on a series of questions employees were asked related to their compensation at work (in yes/no, true/false, 1-10 scale, and multiple-choice format). The answer to each question was given a numerical score and then compared to companies of similar size. A sample of questions include:
    • Do you believe you’re paid fairly?
    • How often do you get a raise?
    • Are you satisfied with your benefits?
    • If applicable, are you satisfied with your stock or equity?
