It is diverse and fast paced
This is a company that looks good on paper. They try very hard to maintain a tech valuation, but this is an old school hard goods company. There are some remnants of the old, toxic culture walking around. Lots of cronyism and nepotism. I wouldn't recommend leaving anything promising to come here.
Quality and reliability which allows me to be able to depend in Acuity
It is good to be part of the US team, international teams are paid peanuts

All the standard ones. Lots of little office perks like a rec room, and such.

How's the work life balance at Acuity Brands?
Pretty balanced. Most managers understand family obligations.
It seems that "family before work" is observed by most of the teams.
How does Acuity Brands make decisions around promotions?
Do a good job. Try to do things better than asked for. Volunteer for the challenging projects, promotion will happen.

What's the vibe like in the IT dept at Acuity Brands? How many hours are you working?
Acuity has been changing it's outlook on IT. They are hiring younger, and are changing the office vibe to appeal to the younger crowd. Lots of perks, like pool and ping-pong tables, arcade games, free coffee/tea/juice and healthy snacks, etc. I work between 40 and 45 hours a week, depends on the week. Most people work about the same.
Overall, it's a positive vibe. 40 hour work weeks are typical, though you do it in 4 days. 3 day weekends every week.
What's the IT team like at Acuity Brands?
As part of the IT team I can say that we are for the vast majority friendly and easy to get along with. There are always the one or two that fall outside of that. Acuity believes strongly in cross training, so you may switch teams on occasion, giving you a chance to learn other parts of IT, plus it keeps you from getting bored :)
Pretty much the project team you are on treats you like extended family. This expands out to much of IT over time.
How's the leadership on the IT team at Acuity Brands?
There are a LOT of upper management changes going on so it's hard to say. Mostly the managers are laid back, and rely on you to meet your goals.
Overall leadership is great.
What's the pay like for IT roles at Acuity Brands?
In par with Atlanta IT pay.
It's comparable to the rest of Atlanta.
What's the office layout like at Acuity Brands?
depends on the team you are on. It's mostly an open cube with groups of 6-8 cubes facing a common "project" area.
It depends on the group that you're working with. Most of the area is an open Cube in which the cubes have one or two walls with the back facing a common area where 6 to 8 cubes share a meeting area. There are some areas that have gone to the half Cube Style but that is not the common layout yet.
How's the vacation policy at Acuity Brands?
Depends somewhat on your work ethics. If you watch the clock, your manager usually does the same on your vacations. If you instead get your work done, and a little more, you manager usually is pretty lax on vacation time.

every year, and it depends on how you perform. average seems to be around 3%

Moderate, never really rushed.
How secure do you feel at your job at Acuity Brands?
Overall pretty secure if you do your job. About every 12-18 months upper management makes some "restructuring" and at those times, they let people go that are not fitting their current needs.

Show up to interview ontime :) Ask good questions. Be passionate in your answers. Don' feed a bunch of B.S. If you don't know something say something like "I haven't had the chance to do xyz, but I am willing to learn"

If you mean staying out till late during the week it can be kinda hard. It's made up for with the 3 day weekends.

As challenged as you want to be. You have your "basic tasks" then you can opt-in to other challenges (with extra pay).
What are the team outings like at Acuity Brands?
Great. Yearly picnic. last 2 have been at Stone Mountain, prior ones have been at Six Flags, and other attractions. Halloween parties, Thanksgiving and Christmas lunch, various team activities.
What's one thing you wish you'd known before joining Acuity Brands?
How well they treat you. Especially if you are a good team player.

quite diverse. No once ethnicitiy or gender can claim a large majority.

4 day work weeks. Of course 10 hours days for those 4. On campus cafeteria and break areas. Arcade area (pool table, ping pong, arcade machines). Juice, tea, coffee, snacks.
