I enjoy my team and my day to day role, and feel that it caters to my strengths. However, I feel that Amazon as a company has had a largely negative impact on the world in terms of wealth hoarding, poor labor practices and abysmal benefits compared to other companies of the same size.
What are some of the best things about your team?
My team is very helpful and hardworking.
What do you like best about the leadership team?
My own manager and her manager are very attentive and great communicators.
Why do you feel undervalued and what would make you feel better about your compensation?
The amount of paid time off we receive is abysmal, especially compared to other companies of the same size. Given how little PTO we get, and how few paid holidays we get, compensation should be much higher.
What is most positive about the culture and environment at your company?
There is nothing positive about the culture or environment at Amazon as a whole - especially in warehouses where employees are forced to work horrendous hours for little pay and sometimes not even able to take pee breaks. However, I appreciate my own team.
What's going wrong and how can it be improved?
I am ashamed of Amazon's labor practices and union busting efforts, especially over the past couple of years. With racial inequality and class disparities at the forefront of attention, Amazon should be held accountable for the ways they contribute to both of these things.
