Appian Compensation Employee Reviews

What is the best part about your compensation package?

A great base pay comparable to the top companies in the market.

Review from Engineering Dept

The compensation includes additional RSUs

Review from Engineering Dept

RSU and variable pay along with good package

Review from Engineering Dept

It's okay similar to many other companies, there is nothing as such best part or a part that stands out.

Review from Product Dept

The healthcare benefits and roth

Review from Marketing Dept

It is in line with what other companies pay for similar roles.

Review from Sales Dept

The best part of my total package would be the benefits and flexibility. The best part of compensation would be my salary and getting paid for my experience.

Review from HR Dept

The total compensation is satisfactory.

Review from Sales Dept

The best part of my compensation package might be stock and base pay

Review from Marketing Dept

Pay and Time off requirements

Review from Sales Dept

having something for transportation, the rest is generic in the industry here where we work

Review from Engineering Dept

It aligns with the effort that we make, the more we sell, the more the commission.

Review from Sales Dept

The fact that it is fairly evenly distributed between MBOs and team-related income

Review from Sales Dept

The base salary is the best part. Bonus is okay, Equity is not even close to being competitive. Either we need to bump equity higher or move the amount into base and get rid of equity all together.

Review from HR Dept

Health care with GU health

Review from Customer Success Dept

the signing bonus was the best part

Review from Customer Success Dept

LSA benefits, good for personal use

Review from IT Dept

discount in the cafeteria, ubers to work from metro station

Review from HR Dept

OTE is very competitive, though the LTI is not

Review from Sales Dept

insurance benefits and overall value provided

Review from IT Dept

Why do you feel undervalued and what would make you feel better about your compensation?

By getting paid to the market standards

Review from Engineering Dept

Total comp package could be higher, especially when dealing with the benefits, which are extremely expensive and non-performant.

Review from Sales Dept

Higher pay to be competitive with market

Review from HR Dept

Pay transparency on job postings seems more in-step with similar tech companies. Without that transparency upfront, it's easy to default to "everyone else must be making more" thinking, even if this is not true.

Review from Customer Success Dept

Appian seems to emphasize job level a lot in justifying compensation. While YOE/age are important factors to consider, I think the skills required by each role within a given department should warrant more nuanced compensation discussions.

Review from HR Dept

The RSU vesting scheme needs to move from annual to quarterly in line with most tech companies. I wouldn't have joined if I had known this.

Review from Sales Dept

Somewhat large disparity between Engineering pay and CS pay. Different skillsets, but value provided and difficulty of job feel more similar than pay reflects.

Review from Customer Success Dept

I am not compensated as well as my peers at the area

Review from HR Dept

Additional equity grants on par with Industry best practices.

Review from Executive Dept

I feel due to long sales cycles and a focus on larger deals , missing your target is more likely. There needs to be a consideration , if a deal is 6mth or longer you may not earn any commission for long periods of time. This needs to be addressed

Review from Sales Dept

The market is constantly offering me better conditions. Salary increase, flexible and geographically tailored benefits. Geographically tailored investment options that are more fiscally beneficial and manageable from outside the US pension plan...

Review from Customer Success Dept

I recently transitioned roles and have been getting paid at the baseline of my new role despite having more experience and knowledge than someone else who might be coming from elsewhere to start in this role. I think my experience with Appian warrants better pay in this new role.

Review from Engineering Dept

Base pay has changed very little over the past few years despite inflation and Appian becoming profitable. It would be good to see more commitment to employee wellbeing by increasing pay regularly and finding more ways to reward employees

Review from Engineering Dept

Annual salary increases are becoming less significant, and changing categories does not result in a meaningful salary improvement. This makes it difficult to perceive real growth within the company, leading to the feeling that it's easier to achieve better compensation outside of Appian.

Review from Customer Success Dept

more direct alignment of comp to long-term company performance

Review from Engineering Dept

A competitive base salary and stock package

Review from Engineering Dept

I know for a fact I have been underpaid by at least 20% for a long time. I accepted this when I felt respected and valued by the company in other ways. Since 2022 and the RTO mandates, that is no longer the case. If you want me to be OK with being significantly underpaid, give me other perks.

Review from Engineering Dept

not to the market compensation level when compared to the peers.

Review from Engineering Dept

While hired at one level, the work and responsibility I have is at a higher level. My salary should be reflective of this.

Review from Marketing Dept

I have become aware of people in the company with similar roles and qualifications receive better compensation than I do. I consider that after my performance, contributions to the company, and the impact I have had on Appian during the time I have spent here, my compensation should be greater.
