Learn how to actually code and program rather than looking up code snippets on stackoverflow. Learn how to actually engage and discuss current best practices with respect to coding and development and not about the next corporate turkey dinner or intranet metrics ( which are meaningless to track )
Get rid of the senior leadership and management that have a draconian view of a workplace. Managers that feel it's ok to force employees into social interaction that is beyond the scope of work or duty should stop especially when the employee says they feel uncomfortable with the insistance.
Having a broader technical skillset than those with senior titles showed me that I was underutilized and undervalued in my current department. Others could play the game and kiss up to management in order to get by while shirking technical knowledge work and passing it down to lesser in title.
