Others are laid off and the pay is low compared to other jobs in the industry

They need to learn how to manage funding and money. Major lay offs because of ineffective mismanagement.
What needs to change to make the company culture better?
Lots of unprofessional people. There is no reprimanding from leadership to discourage unprofessional behavior so it runs rampant
What's going wrong and how can it be improved?
Major layoffs and uncertainty are a sure way to scare away accountants. Be fiscally responsible and give the customers what they need.
