Some coworkers are lazy or don't get the big picture. A few are still stuck in the past.

my coworkers generally try, but management could be doing much more to guide lower performers and create team building opportunities.

They need to have professionalism, a can-do attitude, Focus on delivering quality and not "clock-in, clock-out". The general approach is "I did what was asked of me, and no more". We are here for our customers but it feels like it is more about politics and process.

Teams would work together better if managers were available. Having teams in Colorado Springs who see their managers very rarely and managers who do not observe their teams seems to be contributing to a downslide.
