How can I improve my chances of being hired at Cylance?
Be a top notch engineer, data scientist, sale engineer or whatever. Cylance hires the best!
What unique perks and benefits does Cylance provide?
Catered lunches on alternating Fridays. Catered bagels, fruits and muffins on Thursdays. Fully stocked snacks and beverages. Very flexible working hours and WFH policies.
What's one thing you wish you'd known before joining Cylance?
Know what you're getting into at a startup. It's not like working for normal corporate America! (for good and bad)
How's the morale at Cylance?
The morale has been low at Cylance due to pressure to reign in the costs, but that's probably changed today with announcement of the acquisition by BB.
How much diversity is there among employees at Cylance?
The employees at Cylance are pretty diverse. There are a lot of women in management which is good.
What's the office layout like at Cylance?
Office layout is very open and spacious in the new office that we moved to a few months ago. Before the move, it was very cramped. Only VPs and some Sr. Directors have office. Most folks sit in very nice cubes.
How long do the interviews usually take at Cylance?
It took the whole morning. (from 9am to about 1pm)
How do I do well in an interview at Cylance?
Be prepared. Whatever the area for which you are interviewing, do your homework and prepare! Familiarity with cybersecurity industry is helpful, but not mandatory.
What should I wear for an interview at Cylance?
Like with all interviews, one should dress formally in coat and tie. (IMHO)
Who did you meet with during your interview? And how long did it take to hear back from Cylance?
I met w/ a few engineers, manager, and the VP of Engineering.
How flexible is your work schedule at Cylance?
The schedule is very flexible. There are some core hours during which the company wants employees to be in the office, but generally, you can come and go as you need to.
What's the work from home policy like at Cylance?
It depends on the manager, but as long as you demonstrate that you can be trusted to get your work done at home, it is very liberal and widely allowed.
Does Cylance drug test or do a background check?
I believe they do perform a background check.
How does Cylance handle HR issues?
Not well. They constantly tell employees to use skip level management, but I have seen retaliations when the chain of command is skipped as they encourage you to do.
How innovative is Cylance?
Cylance is very innovative.
If you could make changes, how would you improve the culture at Cylance?
I would treat employees like human beings that are inherently valuable and not just as means to make money. This doesn't make Cylance horrible, just par for the course for corporate America.
