Mr. Charles W. Ergen, also known as Charlie, Co-founded DISH Network Corp. formerly known as Echostar Communications Corporation (ECC) in 1980 and served as its Chief Executive Officer since March 31, 2015 until December 5, 2017 and served as its President until December 11, 2015. He serves as Chief Executive Officer and Chairman of the Board at DISH DBS Corporation. He has been an Executive Chairman of DISH Network Corporation since 1980. He has been an Executive Chairman of EchoStar Corporation since October 2007 and previously served as its Chairman from October 2007 to November 2009. Mr. Ergen served as Chief Executive Officer of DISH Network Corp. from 1980 to June 20, 2011. Mr. Ergen served as President of DISH Network Corp. from February 4, 2008 to June 20, 2011. He served as the President of Kelly Broadcasting Systems Inc. He has also held various Executive officer and Director Positions with Echostar Communications Corp.'s subsidiaries. He serves as Chairman of the Board of EchoStar Technologies L.L.C. He serves as the Chairman of Hughes Satellite Systems Corporation. He has been Director of EchoStar Corporation since 2007. Mr. Ergen is a co-founder of the Satellite Broadcasting and Communications Association. A prominent leader in the satellite and telecommunications industries, Mr. Ergen has received numerous accolades for his renowned career as a brilliant entrepreneur. In June 1991, Mr. Ergen was named ???Master Entrepreneur of the Year??? for the Rocky Mountain region by INC Magazine. Two years prior, he was honoured with a Home Satellite TV Association Star Award. He played a key role in fighting for American consumers??? rights to watch local television channels via satellite, which became a reality after the Satellite Home Viewer Improvement Act was passed in 1999. He has been an advocate of video competition issues and testified before the Congress, in this regard, on numerous occasions. He was recognized with a Rocky Mountain News??? Business Person of the Year Award in 1996 and honoured a second time in 2001. He also won the Frost & Sullivan 2001 CEO of the Year of the Satellite Industry. In 2000, he was named ???Space Industry Business Man of the Year.??? Mr. Ergen was named one of the ???World's Best CEOs??? by Barron's magazine in 2007. He was also mentioned in Forbes Magazine ???Top Ten CEOs??? list in 2007. Most recently, he was among the 2012 class of inductees into the Consumer Electronics Hall of Fame. Mr. Ergen received his Bachelor of Science in General Business and Accounting from the University of Tennessee and his Master of Business Administration from the Babcock Graduate School of Management at Wake Forest University.
