I'd start by making communication a priority! A poor attitude unacceptable. And Have enough staff to cover should someone get sick! At my DG, the manager and a few others ignore me all the time! Anytime I need a day off I have to go in. Sick or not. Despite working for them multiple times without the favor ever being returned. But they get mad and start acting ignorant because I wanted to sleep on my day off after staying up all night for my birthday. They have their own little clique that I am not a part of. And it makes me not even wanna work for them! So I'd do something about that. Id make sure all the coupons and discounts dont have fine print on them. Many people feel misled by that. Trust me, if the deal is good people will take it; without feeling deceived or dumb. And I would put trash cans outside. We get so many complaints about that. Id listen and respond to my customers. And never allow disrespect from customers or employees.
Due to Dollar Generals business model I’m not sure it can be changed. Dollar General has a flawed business model that puts excessive stress and stress on their front line employees. Front line employees such as myself are extremely over worked while being highly underpaid. I believe Dollar General CEO knows this, it’s that he or they just don’t care. The business model is geared to make money off the sweat of the poor’s back, so there is no way that they could possibly understand our troubles or concerns. Dollar General front line employees had to work on the holidays, I bet corporate didn’t. FLAWED BUSINESS MODEL
The managers and supervisor would need to understand and how so humanity and not be so focus on only giving the opportunities to the chosen employees they often missed employees that can do so much better than the ones they choose. Human relations need to focus more on the employee instead of other things, often the employees we don't know why human relation is there.
I would make sure that all the stores are well stocked, the employees are well paid and the cash registers and the pin pads actually work. As well as hire employees who want to work and not just people who think it will be an easy job but then get tired of the work and quit after a few weeks or months
I would start by showing my employees the appreciation and respect they deserve with more hours, benefits and healthcare benefits as well as higher pay. Did you know they hire their managers on the lowest salary legally possible for department managers in the whole u.s. ? Greed will be the destruction of DG.
I would focus on employees and make it so they would want to stay. As it stands, we have a revolving door because they need to find a job that they can support themselves and a family
I would have meeting to discuss the good and bad at least once a month. I would try to create a family atmosphere by celebrating the holidays within the store, as well as the employees birthdays.
Stop cutting hours and pay for people. Employees are living and breathing, they can not work 100% of time.
Need more budget/payroll to work product and store the way it should be!
raise the starting wage...and improve security camera coverage
Better work conditions
